Northern Ireland

Just after we left Islay we experienced, for the first time in our lives, those wonderful 2-3 m high but slow, long waves where the boat sails upwards and then down again. You get the impression the ocean is breathing. This was a hunch of how the Atlantic waves might be and we just loved it. We have now sailed through the east coast of Northern Ireland Most nights have been spent anchoring. Since ...

Inner Hebrids of Scotland

The owner of the Corpach marina showed us around at the harbor after we paid the (rather expensive) fee. All the facilities were just not yet available for the guests but he was nevertheless very enthusiastic about his new establishment and excited about all sailboats in need for a berth. At the evening a band of younger boys ran around on the pontoons. They had managed to get into the fenced harb ...

Caledonian Canal

The Caledonian Canal shows it’s rough beauty. At this time the common gorse is blooming and these bright yellow bushes are seen everywhere. The scenery is beautiful with old castles and boathouses near the lakes. We are now at the west-coast of Scotland and have passed through 29 locks 10 bridges and 3 lakes. But, what has impressed us the most is the friendliness of people we have met. Always a ...

Seaport marina -Muirtown (Inverness)

Now we have entered the Caledonian Canal and have stayed for two nights in the Seaport marina. We have done some shopping and visited a botanical garden, a warm and nice place to be in. The weather here in Inverness is windy and some times a bit cold, but the Scottish people seems to think it's summer, wearing shorts and t-shirts. Me and Malin are still dressed in outfits made for the North sea, a ...

Over the North Sea

We left Farsund on Tuesday the 9 of May in pouring rain but otherwise good weather conditions. The journey over the North Sea took two and a half days. Half of the journey we had fair winds but very choppy sea with waves coming from different directions. The other half we had almost no wind at all but heavy fog and had to go by motor. Aiming for Inverness means taking the longest route to Scotland ...

Farsund

Since we are stuck in Farsund, while waiting for better weather, we took the opportunity to look around. Here are some pictures of the beautiful village. Eftersom vi är vi inblåsta i Farsund, i väntan på bättre väder, passade vi på att se oss omkring. Här är några bilder på den vackra byn. Many old well-maintained mostly white wooden houses line the streets with small narrow alleys r ...

To Norway!

From the home port in Källviken, we piloted the boat to Gullholmen for a final briefing and check-up. Then we had a shorter test-sailing Smögen. A chilly but sunny day with good wind and almost no waves. This is how good the next four years can be, we said to each other, enjoying… Från hemmahamnen i Källviken körde vi båten till Gullholmen för en sista genomgång och check-up. Sedan blev ...

Today is the day!

Today we sailed away in pouring rain. Friends and family bravely battled the elements and waved us off at 2pm. Anastacia was beautiful like never before! Idag seglade vi iväg i ösregn. Vänner och familj kämpade tappert mot vädrets makter och vinkade av oss vid 14-tiden. Anastacia var vacker som aldrig förr! THANKS! We want to take this opportunity to thank friends and family for all the ...
